Change

I will miss every one of my dear students at Megar Evers College Preparatory School very much. However, I have taken a position as an English teacher at the Academy for Young Writers, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I know that you are all in good hands with the English department at Medgar Evers, and I know that you will all make me proud to have been your teacher last year, as you impress all of your teachers with your knowledge and hard work this year. Tragedy in 10th grade

Due to unknown causes, Regina Pope passed away in her sleep this summer. Many of her classmates and teachers attended her wake on July 20, 2008. She will be missed by all in the school community, especially her boyfriend, Hamadi Laylor, who wrote an incredible poem commemorating his relationship with Regina. My thoughts and prayers, and all of the thoughts and prayers of the school, go out to her family.
